Server Room Cooling That Never Goes Down
When the cooling stops, the business stops, and it takes minutes. We design, install and maintain twin duty-standby cooling for server and comms rooms across the West Midlands: F-Gas certified, fully redundant, and monitored around the clock.
When the Cooling Fails, the Business Stops
Servers overheat and shut down in minutes, not hours. That means data loss, damaged hardware and halted operations, on nights and weekends when nobody is watching. What does one hour of downtime cost your business? Now compare it to a cooling system that cannot go down.
Thermal shutdown in minutes
Once cooling stops, temperatures climb fast. Servers protect themselves by shutting down, and the outage begins.
Kit and data worth far more
Your servers and the data on them are worth far more than the room they sit in. Proper cooling is the cheapest insurance you will buy for your most critical asset.
It happens out of hours
The failure rarely waits for Monday morning. A silent failure at 2am becomes a full outage by the time anyone arrives.
Your Office AC Is a Silent Server Killer
“We already have air conditioning” is the most expensive assumption a business can make about its server room. Comfort AC is not built for the job.
- Cycles off out of hours, so the room bakes overnight
- One unit, no backup: one failure is one outage
- Not rated for 24/7/365 continuous duty, so it fails early
- Often cannot run in winter (no low-ambient capability)
- No humidity control
- Runs continuously, 24/7, all year round
- Twin duty-standby: automatic backup if one unit fails
- Built for continuous duty, sized from a heat-load survey
- Low-ambient kits so it cools even in winter
- Humidity control and monitoring where the room needs it
Twin Duty-Standby: No Single Point of Failure
This is the system. Two cooling units and one controller, engineered so a single failure never takes the room down. Each unit is sized to cool the whole room on its own, which is what makes it true redundancy, not two half-units.
The controller runs one unit as duty and holds the other on standby, rotating the lead unit (typically every 6, 12 or 24 hours) so wear is shared and both stay proven. If the duty unit fails or is taken out for service, the standby auto-starts within 30 to 60 seconds and the room never overheats. That automatic failover is the entire point.
What a Proper Installation Includes
- 1
A heat-load survey
Sized to your actual kit, not guessed. This is also how you tell a specialist from a box-shifter.
- 2
Continuous-duty units
Rated to run around the clock, with low-ambient kits so the outdoor unit still works in winter.
- 3
A duty-standby controller
Automatic rotation and failover, so a single unit is never a single point of failure.
- 4
Monitoring and alarms
Temperature alerts that reach us before a rising room becomes an outage.
- 5
F-Gas logbook & compliance
Leak checks, correct electrical supply and isolation, and full documentation for your records and audits.
We Watch the Room So You Don’t Have To
The install is the entry ticket. The real protection is the maintenance and monitoring contract on a room that must never be left to chance. An alert at 2am beats an outage at 9am.
Planned maintenance
Regular visits and F-Gas checks that keep both units proven and the room within spec, all documented.
24/7 monitoring & alerts
We watch the room around the clock, so a rising temperature reaches us before it reaches a shutdown.
Emergency response SLA
A guaranteed response time when it matters most, with a local engineer who can actually turn up.
A Specialist for Your Critical Room, Local Enough to Turn Up
F-Gas certified specialist
Not an aircon firm that also does server rooms. Certified refrigerant work, redundancy by default, and heat-load surveys as standard.
Local, fast when it matters
A same-day engineer when a room is overheating. Nationals cannot, generalists will not. Response time is the product.
One contractor for the building
Comfort AC, the server room, and EV charging or solar too. The established commercial cooling name you already know.
Looked after, not just fitted
Contracts, alerts and an SLA mean the room is monitored and maintained, which is exactly what a nervous buyer needs to hear.
Server Room Cooling Questions
Can I use normal office air conditioning for a server room?
No, and it is the most dangerous assumption. Office AC cycles off out of hours so the room bakes overnight, has no redundancy, is not rated for 24/7 duty, and often cannot run in winter. A server room needs continuous-duty cooling with a backup unit.
What is twin duty-standby, or N+1 redundancy?
Two cooling units and one controller. One runs (duty), the other waits (standby). If the duty unit fails or is serviced, the standby starts automatically within 30 to 60 seconds. Each unit is sized to cool the whole room alone, which makes it true N+1 redundancy.
What temperature should a server room be kept at?
Most server and comms rooms are kept around 18 to 27°C with stable temperature and humidity. The real risk is a cooling failure: servers can thermally shut down within minutes, causing data loss and hardware damage.
How quickly can you respond to an overheating room?
As a local specialist we can often get an engineer on site the same day, rather than a national’s next-week slot. Maintenance clients get a guaranteed response-time SLA. Call our emergency line if your room is too hot now.
Do you offer monitoring and maintenance contracts?
Yes, and for a mission-critical room they are essential: planned maintenance with F-Gas checks, 24/7 monitoring with alerts before a failure becomes an outage, and emergency response SLAs.
How much does server room cooling cost?
There is no fixed price, because heat load, redundancy level and monitoring drive the specification. We always quote from a free heat-load survey, sized to your kit and priced against the cost of downtime, not a domestic aircon job.
