02Your home

Will a heat pump work in your Evesham home?

Homes around Evesham are not all equally suited to a heat pump. Here is the honest picture by property type, before anyone gives you a price.

Usually a good fit

Oil and LPG homes across the Vale

Badsey, Offenham, Bretforton and Honeybourne. £9,000 grant, no more tank deliveries, and room outside for the unit.

Usually a good fit

Estates in Hampton and Bengeworth

Modern and post-war homes on gas, with cavity walls and simple layouts.

Usually a good fit

Farmhouses and rural homes

Plenty of space for the unit and a cylinder. Larger properties may suit two units, now allowed on a detached house.

Usually a good fit

Homes with solar already

The Vale has a lot of solar. A heat pump makes much better use of what your panels generate.

Check first

The Abbey quarter and village centres

Conservation areas and listed buildings. We check what is allowed before we quote.

Depends on the house

Stone and timber-framed homes

Solid walls lose more heat. A heat pump works with the right design, and we may suggest insulation first.

03Who we are

MCS certified heat pump installers in Evesham

Heat pumps go wrong when they are sized from a photo by someone who never returns. We are a West Midlands business with a unit in West Bromwich, the same team that already fits air conditioning across Worcestershire, and we measure your home before we price it.

  • MCS certified, which is what lets us claim the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for you.
  • A room-by-room heat loss survey before any price, so the system is sized for your house.
  • You know which radiators change, if any, before you commit.
  • Our own engineers. Nobody is subcontracted, so the people who survey are the people who fit.
  • We stay on call. If something needs looking at, you ring the people who fitted it.

06Straight talking

When a heat pump is the wrong choice.

We would rather lose a job than fit a system that leaves you cold. If any of these apply to your home, we will tell you at the survey.

  • Very poor insulation with no plan to improve it. We will tell you what to fix first, and it may be cheap.
  • Nowhere sensible for the outdoor unit, or a spot too close to a neighbour’s window.
  • No room for a hot water cylinder and no way to make some.
  • A small flat on a cheap gas tariff, where the saving would be too small to be worth it.

09Planning

Planning permission for heat pumps in Evesham

Most homes no longer need planning permission for an air source heat pump. The rules in England were relaxed on 29 May 2025, and many people still assume the old ones apply.

Evesham's historic centre and several Vale villages have conservation areas, where a unit on a wall or roof facing the road generally needs permission. Listed buildings always need consent. We check your address before we quote.

  • No minimum distance from the boundary. The old one metre rule has gone.
  • Units up to 1.5 cubic metres, up from 0.6, so modern quiet units are covered.
  • Two units on a detached house, where one is not enough.
  • A noise test still applies. The install must pass a calculation at your neighbour’s nearest window, and we do it before we quote.
Grant deadline

The £9,000 grant for oil and LPG homes ends 31 March 2027. Evesham surveys booking now.

Surveys, design and the grant application take a few weeks, so the sooner we see your home the safer your £9,000 is. The standard £7,500 grant runs to the end of 2027.

Air source heat pumps Evesham: your questions answered

Usually not. Since 29 May 2025 an air source heat pump on a house in England is normally permitted development: there is no minimum distance from the boundary, the unit can be up to 1.5 cubic metres, and a detached house can have two. It must pass a noise calculation at your neighbour's nearest window. Listed buildings always need consent, and in conservation areas a unit on a wall or roof facing the road generally needs permission. Evesham's historic centre and several Vale villages have conservation areas. We check the rules for your address before we quote.

Once the heat pump is running, the oil boiler comes out and the tank can be decommissioned and removed, which frees up garden or yard space and ends the tank's upkeep. We go through what happens to it at the survey, so there are no surprises.

Yes. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme gives £7,500 off an air source heat pump, or £9,000 for homes with no mains gas that heat with oil or LPG until 31 March 2027. We apply for it and it comes straight off your price. The work also carries 0% VAT until 31 March 2027. Separately, the council-run Warm Homes: Local Grant offers free upgrades to lower-income homes, and for Evesham it is run by Worcestershire County Council with Act on Energy. It is currently fully subscribed, with a waiting list.

As a guide, a system for a typical 3-bed semi is around £12,400 fitted, which is about £4,900 after the £7,500 grant. Larger or older homes cost more, and well insulated ones can cost less. Your price is fixed in writing after a free heat loss survey, with the grant already taken off.

Sometimes, a few. Heat pumps run at lower water temperatures, so some rooms may need a larger radiator. Your survey report tells you exactly which radiators change, if any, before you commit.

Most installs take around three days. You have heating and hot water for most of that time, and we tell you what happens on each day before we start.
